Is Animal Communication Real? Here’s How I Know
It’s one of the first questions people ask me and quietly wonder: “How do you know animal communication is real?”
I completely understand the curiosity and even the skepticism. The idea of connecting with an animal through intuition or energetic awareness can sound unusual at first. Over and over again, I’ve experienced the truth of it – through the confirmations I receive from the animals’ human companions.
Animal communication isn’t about guessing or reading body language. It’s about tuning in to the energetic ways animals share with us — through images, words, sensations, and an inner sense of knowing. These connections often reveal the smallest details, the kinds of things I could never know without being told directly by the animal. It’s an incredible moment when their people confirm these details. Each time it becomes such a powerful affirmation of the bond we share with our animal friends and family members.

Today I’m going to share five heartfelt stories that continue to remind me that yes – animal communication is real.
Why People Doubt Animal Communication
Skepticism is natural. This idea of connecting with an animal’s energy doesn’t fit with our typical human structures. After all, we’re taught to rely on what we can see and measure.
Since animal communication is invisible, people wonder if it’s just the imagination.
From experience in working with animals, I’ve found: imagination doesn’t usually produce the exact details that an animal’s guardian can confirm later. The information I get energetically comes to me in a real clear way. Part of it is that I’m also asking a question to the animal, so I am energetically tuning in for their response. Then when I feel, sense, see or know something – I can trust it’s from the animal. I am reaching out to the animal in an intentional way.
This is very different from when I’m daydreaming or envisioning a story in my mind. It was hard to distinguish this when I was brand new to animal communication, but know I know how it feels when the animals are responding.
Also, when the insights match reality it points to something much more than a coincidence. This happens when an animal is sharing a favorite sleeping spot, or how it feels in their bodies (giving me a physical sensation) or a special routine.
I’ve even been known to laugh in response to the animals answering my questions. Sometimes they don’t give me a direct answer, but what they do share always has meaning for their owners.
Real-Life Examples of Animal Communication
Here are a few stories from my own practice that illustrate how animals share and validate their experiences.
Winnie – A Nose-to-Nose Ritual of Love
Winnie was about 17 years old when her guardian reached out. She wanted reassurance and guidance: was Winnie doing okay? Was she ready to pass? What was the quality of her life like in these final days?
When I connected with Winnie, I felt her sweet personality shine through. I could sense how she used to be playful in her younger days. I could strongly feel how even she loved being close to her mama. Toward the end of the session, a very clear image came to me: Winnie and her mom touching noses. Later, her guardian told me that this was their special ritual. She even shared a photo of them nose-to-nose, which so beautifully confirmed the love and closeness they shared.

Soloman – The Cat Who Made Me Laugh
Soloman was a shy cat, skittish even with his loving human mom. When I asked him where he liked to sleep, he didn’t give me a direct answer. Instead, I saw a vivid image of him walking on a windowsill. His guardian confirmed this, “Soloman loves to lay/sleep on the cat's desk/table in front of the window!” This response from Soloman was his playful way of showing me his truth, while making me laugh out loud.

Finn – Sharing His Nose With Me
Finn’s mom worried about his health and asked if he had any concerns. When I connected with him, I felt as if my nose had become his — a little moist and sniffly. His mom, Renee, later confirmed that Finn was dealing with seasonal allergies that very week. During a body scan, I also sensed a yellow glow around his abdomen, tied to his anxiety. Renee shared that his digestion often became unsettled when he was stressed. Together, these insights helped her understand the connection between his body and emotions.

Chupo in Montenegro – Wisdom Before It Happened
Another memorable session was with my first international client, a sweet dog named Chupo in Montenegro. When I connected with him, I felt drawn to his mouth and sensed there might be an issue with his teeth. At the time, his mom, Andjela, hadn’t noticed anything wrong. However a few weeks later, his gums began to bleed and he avoided his usual kibble. Andjela switched to smaller, softer food, which made all the difference. His gums healed and he was eating comfortably again. That session reminded me how animals sometimes share things before we can see them ourselves.

Chewy – My Personal Validation
After my cat Chewy passed in 2024, I met with an animal communicator named Denise Dunlavy. She was able to describe our water routine in the bathroom. This was always a special and sweet ritual that was such a bonding moment for us. Denise captured it exactly and even mentioned how this was Chewy’s way of bonding with me. That experience reaffirmed for me what I already knew in my heart: our animals are always connecting with us in all kinds of loving ways.
This little video shows Chewy drinking water from the faucet and his favorite water cup (which I always kept on the counter for him):
Why These Confirmations Matter
What makes these moments so powerful isn’t just the accuracy of the details — it’s about the connection and love. Animal communication expands our understanding, builds trust, and often brings comfort in times of uncertainty.
When an animal shows me their favorite place to nap, or points out a physical discomfort, it opens a window into their world. These little details give their humans a new way of seeing and appreciating them. These validations remind us that our animals are conscious beings with thoughts, preferences, and emotions. Most importantly, they want to share their stories with us.
So, is animal communication real? For me, the answer is a wholehearted yes. It’s real in the small, undeniable details. It’s real in the way animals share their perspective and in how their humans recognize it.

You don’t have to take my word for it — the best way to know is to experience it for yourself. If you’re curious about what your animal has to say, I’d be honored to connect and share their messages with you.
